THE CURE

Created in a special collaboration with Delhi’s Guild of the Goat ensemble members Amba-Suhasini Jhala and Anirudh Nair: A group of doctors, patients and mythic figures are pulled from different moments in history into an abandoned shelter by a common search – something that will transcend certain fate and immobilize death. Following the ancient rhythms of Greek and Hindu mythology, set to a Viennese Waltz and pulling from the canon of 1980’s heartbreak power ballads, THE CURE looks at how we plant the seeds of hope in an uncertain future and where we can find the strength to continue searching for wellness.

THE CURE was an immersive, performance installation presented in 2016 by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events in special partnership with Delhi’s Guild of the Goat with three weeks of free performances at the Sidney R. Yates Gallery at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Directed by Kendra Miller. Created and performed by Walkabout ensemble members Nigel Brown, McCambridge Dowd-Whipple, Cooper Forsman, Dana Murphy, Katie Mazzini, Thom Pasculli and Paul Scudder with Guild of the Goat ensemble members Anirudh Nair and Amba-Suhasini Jhala. With commisioned text by Emma Stanton.

Production team includes scenic designer and installation artist Isaac Fosl-van Wyke, lighting designer Michael Banks, sound designer Cooper Forsman, costume designer Jeffery Hancock, movement designer Thom Pasculli, stage manager Dina Klahn, and assistant director Alex Rodriguez.
