Lookingglass Theatre Company presents Walkabout Theater Company's world premiere stage adaptation of Stuart Dybek’s The Coast of Chicago, his hugely popular collection of stories about growing up in the neighborhood of Pilsen on the south side of Chicago. The adaptation focuses on three of Dybek’s stories “Chopin in Winter,” “Hot Ice,” and ”Nighthawks” - and explores the human ability to transcend the effects of loss, poverty, and prejudice with the power of myth, memory, and imagination.
The cast includes Dawn Alden (Eva), Carlo Garcia (Choco), Frederick Husar (Antek), Simone Jubyna (Marcy),Karin McKie (Mrs. Kubiac), Larry Neumann, Jr., AEA (Dzia-Dzia), Eastman Presser (Boy), Jeff Still, AEA, (Narrator), Nicholas Guzman Valentin (Pancho), Star Alexis Velazquez (Nina), Juan Francisco Villa (Manny) and Dan Waller (Eddie).
